My dad fell from 10'0" off a ladder and has 17 different fractures. The critical ones were 7 broken ribs , a broken collar bone and a broken shoulder blade. My brother gave my dad a Lazy-boy recliner. It was so he can rest comfortable , but it was too low so it was very hard for him to sit down and even harder for get up due to his injuries. Not only that, my mom who is a lot shorter than my dad had to help him get up every time he needed to use the restroom or move around. It was tough for both of them, especially being in their late 50s. I had ordered this chair not knowing if it would help my dad, and let me tell you my dad loves that Pride GL-358M lift chair. My dad thanks to them is able to get up without asking or waking up my mom in the middle of the night. I have not seen the remote control for this chair, but if my dad can understand it then it must be very user friendly. By the comments of my dad, the lift chair is also very much injury friendly. Since this chair gives my dad the comfort and freedom to sit down and get up with ease and making my mom very happy at the same time, YEAH I recommend with strong confidence. Not to mention that my dad said "This is a well built chair thank you son". I recommend US Medical Supply and would be happy to do business with them if need again. Thank you guys very much.

This lift chair has been wonderful for my wife, who is in a wheelchair. The lift chair affords me the ability to help her get out of her wheelchair and get her feet up for better circulation, and it's extremely comfortable. |

Unsafe for back problems
|
|
For people with muscular dystrophy and/or severe back problems or weakness, the High-Low function proves this chair's most attractive feature. However, when this chair reaches a convenient or high enough level, its back has also moved forward, in such a manner, that it forces the person's back to bend beyond an acceptable and safe degree. Muscular dystrophy patients and those who suffer from spondyloarthropathies can not bend beyond a very restricted range without a high risk of falling. The first and only time I sat in my new chair, someone had to assist me in getting out of it, as I nearly fell. Other than that, the lift chair is very comfortable but useless to me. Therefore, I am stuck with it and, currently, in the midst of having a base made to help me achieve the necessary altitude without falling, realizing in the process, that I could have done the same with a regular recliner, and not have to pay all that extra money for a very attractive feature that I can not use. NOTE TO THE MANUFACTURER For the large group of patients aforementioned, the following suggestions should resolve the problem: 1) THE BACK FUNCTION NEEDS TO BE INDEPENDENT FROM THE HIGH-LOW FEATURE. or 2) THE HIGH-LOW FEATURE NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED TO ALLOW FOR RAISING THE CHAIR (seat to floor distance only) WITHOUT THE FORWARD MOTION COMPONENT or 3) PRESERVING THE FORWARD COMPONENT, which is certainly useful, ONLY THE SEAT SHOULD MOVE FORWARD WHILE THE BACK ADJUSTS TO COMPENSATE, THE CHANGING DEGREE, IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

| Pros |
Durable upholstry, Sturdy, Great value

I used to struggle getting out of my chair after sitting for a while, but now I can rise to the occasion and proceed with more stability. Because the lift chair comes in several sizes, it is very comfortable and supports my build well. |
